Gauche the Cellist

This is the 1963 stop-motion animation adaption of Kenji Miyazawa's story, directed by Matsue Jimbo. It tells the tale of a young cellist named Gauche who, through the help of mischevious animal spirits, is able to overcome his faults, and give a wonderful performance at his upcoming concert. It's a sweet, popular story that has also been adapted into a longer (roughly 1 hour long) picture by Isao Takahata, producer and director for Studio Ghibli (his adaption of Gauche, however, is not a Ghibli film). I hold this particular translation in high regard as it was created by a friend of mine who was once very dear to me, who I still remember with immense fondness.

Click here to view the film on YouTube. With a runtime of just 18 minutes and 35 seconds I'm sure you can make time to watch it. :-)

Alternatively, you can watch or download it from this Mega link. It is only 69.7 MBs.

Dragon's Heaven

Years ago I scanned the manga Dragon's Heaven, a process which meant effectively destroying a copy of the original book so I could scan each page individually (don't worry, I have a second intact copy!) It is the fourth part of the series "Series: Full Metal Jacket", of which I have two other mecha comics (1: カペルドーニャの鉄騎士 末弥純作品集 ~Iron Knight of Caperdoña; and 2: Stardust in a Bottle). If I ever purchase spare copies of those I might also scan them one day.

The manga, which takes place in a post-apocalypic Brazil during a war between robots and humans, was created by Makoto Kobayashi, who also designed mechs in Gundam Zeta and ZZ. His own comics and illustrations have a cool, distinctive style that take influence from the French comic book artist Jean Giraud (Moebius).

Various people have kindly translated my scan into other languages: English, Polish, and Ukrainian. You can read such translations here (for the English Chapter 1, make sure you select the version more recently uploaded, credited to "No Group" as the older version is an unfinished project that uses low-quality images):
